For over 10 years, on Long Island, NY we've had a special Super Bowl Sunday poetry tradition "Super Poem Sunday!" a fantastic live event held at the Walt Whitman Birthplace. 

60-70 poets compete every year, and there are 3 winners. What's more the event is always over in time for the Super Bowl, so the poets who are both sports fans and poetry fans can attend both. 

​The venue was always packed and we always had a ton of fun. Last year we couldn't gather like usual... so we're did a virtual event. And this year, seems 

Super Poem Sunday is still virtual for 2022! 

We're going to do the slam virtually this year. We will have a live virtual event at 1:00pm on Super Bowl Sunday! 

​How It Works:

1: If you are interested in competing fill out the form and pay the $10 entry fee.

2: You will get the link to the zoom event on Super Poem Sunday and will recite a poem of 3 minutes or less (including any short intro.) 

3: The poems and performances will be judged by 3 judges and the winners will be chosen.

(If you are not competing, but just want to spectate, viewing is totally free!)
